18x24 inch Oil Painting on canvas, with gold-painted edges, unframed.

This painting grew from the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd and the quiet assurance of sheep resting in green pastures. As one of my first landscape oil paintings, I poured curiosity and care into every brushstroke—building hills, light, and flock until the scene felt like a place you could step into.

It is both a memory of a promise and an invitation: to rest from striving, to follow a gentle guide, and to trust that we are led into safety and abundance. The work is rooted in the words of Psalm 23:2: “He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.”

Symbolism and meaning
- The Shepherd — gentle leadership and personal care; a presence who seeks the lost and carries them home.
- The Sheep — trust and rest; a community that finds peace when led with compassion.
- Green Pastures — provision and renewal; places of rest where strength is restored, directly echoed in Psalm 23:2.
- Winding Path — life’s journey with its turns and choices; a reminder that guidance meets us step by step.

- River or Stream — the flow of grace and refreshment; water that sustains both land and spirit.
- Sunlight on the Hills — hope and clarity breaking through doubt; light that reveals safe ground ahead.
- Wildflowers and Meadow — small joys and flourishing that follow attentive care.
- Overall composition — a pastoral promise: protection, provision, and the quiet courage to follow.
